The Board of Directors of CanASK is concerned about the current Canadian
political climate as it impacts health issues. For this reason, although our
main mandate is not one of political action, we feel it is important to
provide information below about an impending Health Bill presently before
the Senate.
We feel we can, with integrity, recommend the following websites
for your
information
and consideration.
We urge you, as an individual who takes an active interest
in health, to take a
few minutes to peruse the materials on these sites and take action as you see
fit. Our concerted action can have very direct and important ramifications. You
will notice there are a few notes along with each of the recommended sites, to
help speedily guide you to the information regarding the Bill C-6.
Bill C-6 has already passed through the House of Commons
and is now in the
Senate.
It is almost unheard of for the Senate to fail to pass Bills that have
already
been passed
by the House. According to some, this means that currently
the only
hope of defeating
Bill C-6 would be for the Senate to delay passing it
until an election is
called. This could
happen if enough citizens demanded of
their Senators that the Senate hold
hearings into
Bill C-6.
The Senate is meant to give a sober second look at
legislation. It is time we
demand
that they step up to the plate.

a portion of the day's transcript, where Buckley
presents in extremely
understandable and easy
to follow language, one of the
aspects of the proposed Bill which he finds most
disturbing.
Thanks to anyone who heard and responded to a recent call for action and
contacted the Senate requesting that
Shawn
Buckley
be heard. Mr. Buckley
is a lawyer with expertise in the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations and is
somone who has actively campaigned against Bill C-6 and represents
numerous Canadians' views. He
had had a scheduling conflict where he was
to be
presenting in federal court on
the dates the
Senate had available for
hearings. Numerous public requests to make time available for Mr. Buckley
to make a presentation to the Senate Committee were received by
Senate
members
resulting in Mr. Buckley's ability to address the Senate on
November 25th.
Mr. Buckley is also President of the Natural Health
Products Protection Association,
an association dedicated to protecting access to NHPs. The NHPPA is also one
of the founding groups supporting the Charter of Health Freedom.
